Voltify is the first to make Zero-Emission rail economically feasible with zero operational changes.
Our solution was designed over a year of intensive collaboration with every department of the Class 1 railroads—
including operations, signaling, finance, servicing, maintenance, locomotives, engineering, etc.
After dozens of meetings and three major product pivots, we developed a solution that allows railroads to maintain
their current workflows while saving 20%+ on energy with no upfront investment.

This shift is possible because of the collapse in battery costs.
Cells that cost $313/kWh three years ago (during Alon’s previous 1GWh project) now cost us $114/kWh, with 2027
quotes at $70/kWh. This 75% price drop allows us to provide deep discounts to railroads while maintaining 20%–
30% margins.

What substitutes do people resort to?
Currently, there are no economically viable alternatives to diesel.

Diesel is the standard, but it accounts for 20%–30% of total OpEx and is highly volatile.

Hydrogen, despite the hype, remains significantly more expensive than diesel.
Even assuming ten years of technological breakthroughs ahead, hydrogen is only projected to reach parity with
diesel, which is already 4x more expensive than our solution today.

CatAmmon was founded in 2024 based on five years of academic research led by two professors, and develops advanced metal-dopant and ceramic-based catalyst technologies for hydrogen and ammonia applications.

The company’s core focus is ammonia cracking for hydrogen production, enabling on-demand hydrogen supply for hydrogen-powered vehicles, ships, off-road machinery, and fueling stations. CatAmmon’s flagship cracking catalyst operates at 350–400°C, requires no rare or precious metals, and can reduce CapEx and OpEx by up to 50%, unlocking cleaner, cheaper, and scalable hydrogen production from ammonia.

In parallel, CatAmmon has developed a proprietary metal-dopant technology that matches precious-metal catalytic performance without rare metals, enabling the replacement of precious metals currently used in automotive catalytic converters. This approach reduces cost, supply-chain risk, and environmental impact while supporting large-scale deployment across mobility platforms.

As a longer-term extension, CatAmmon is also developing a near-atmospheric-pressure ammonia synthesis catalyst, targeting up to 55% reduction in ammonia production cost as a cleaner alternative to the traditional Haber–Bosch process.

Within its first year, CatAmmon raised $1.85M and is executing multiple PoC’s with leading global partners across Japan, Korea, Switzerland, and Germany.
